School Social Distancing Space Reduced in Some Settings

Some positive news has been issued by the CDC regarding changes in COVID-19 physical distancing requirements. While wearing masks and 6 feet of social distancing are still required by the general public, the CDC recently reduced the physical distancing space requirement from 6 feet to 3 feet for schools in some situations.

The new requirement allows for 3 feet of space between students in classroom settings in elementary schools and the removal of barriers between desks. Six feet of space is still required between adults and children, and for children, in common areas such as auditoriums. Six feet of social distancing is also still required when masks are not worn outdoors or in eating areas and in middle and high schools in areas of high community transmission.

As we gradually transition back to normal, continue reinforcing social distancing requirements at your facility to encourage safe health practices.
