In the coming weeks, construction will begin on four single-family affordable housing units on the front lawn of the school district property. These units, which could house up to eight people are part of our strategic plan to retain high quality teachers and staff. This project started in 2023 after a staff survey identified many housing challenges for our staff including rental costs, availability of suitable housing, and lack of affordable housing in the community. Community input was gathered during an open session at the school on March 27, 2024.
This project will not impact the school’s operating budget. The units will be financed through existing funding sources with no new property taxes being increased to support it. These units are designed to provide stable housing options that will help keep dedicated staff at Sierra Grande for years to come.
